W ostatnich latach Grecja znajdowała się w nieustannych tarapatach finansowych. Mimo
uzyskania zewnętrznej pomocy na łączną sumę 270 mld euro, kraj ten nadal nie rozwiązał swoich problemów. Wprowadzone programy oszczędnościowe jeszcze bardziej skomplikowały i tak trudną sytuację finansową. Gdyby jednak nie one, Grecja musiałaby ogłosić niewypłacalność, która doprowadziłaby do bankructwa wiele zagranicznych banków.

In recent years, Greece has invariably been financially troubled. Despite the fact it received
the double external financial aid amounting to EUR 270 billion, the country has not solved its financial problems yet. The implemented austerity plans have complicated Greek economic status even further. However, but for the said plans, Greece would have had to declare its insolvency, which would have led to many foreign banks to bankruptcy.
