Abstract:
The article shows the place of companies from the Kuyavian-Pomeranian region in the all-Poland ranking of 500 largest companies which is prepared by journalists from Rzeczpospolita daily newspaper. It has been analyzed which three sectors of the economy (agriculture, industry, services) and economic branches the companies recorded in the ranking belong to. Large companies from the Kuyavian-Pomeranian region represent the areas of the economy of, so-called, low technology. These are mainly companies which deal with food processing, retail trade of groceries and wholesale purchase and sale of scrap metal. It is worth noticing that companies from the secondary sector of the economy - industry - have a long tradition, sometimes going back to the XIX century.
