Abstract:
W roku 2008 obchodziliśmy dwusetną rocznicę urodzin B.F. Trentowskiego, wobec tego jest wybitna
okazja do zasygnalizowania problemu aktualności jego pedagogiki filozoficznej. Mamy tu bowiem
do czynienia z filozofem i pedagogiem tyleż oryginalnym, co nierozumianym i niedowartościowanym,
a przecież w ogromnym obszarze jego twórczości, dającym się wpisać we współczesny dyskurs
humanistów, a zwłaszcza pedagogów. Jest rzeczą kapitalną, iż to, co zwyczajowo uznajemy za postmodernizm
(brak pretensji do absolutnej jedności) było już przedmiotem refleksji Trentowskiego,
którego dorobek możemy śmiało porównywać z dorobkiem czołowych przedstawicieli postmodernizmu,
szczególnie Wolfganga Welscha. Okazuje się, iż oddalenie w czasie niekoniecznie oddala nas
od wartościowych myśli i ciągle aktualnych rozwiązań będących próbą wyrwania pedagogiki z ujęcia
ortodoksyjnego, jednocześnie bez skazania rozumu i racjonalności na banicję.

In 2008 we commemorated the two-hundredth anniversary of B.F. Trentowski’s birthday, in that case this is
an outstanding occasion to indicate a problem of topicality of his philosophical pedagogy. We are dealing
here with the original philosopher and educator, however not understood and underestimated, but in a great
extent of his output, able to be entered to the current discourse of humanists, particularly educators. It is
splendid that what we customarily consider as postmodernism (no claims against the absolute unity) was
already a subject of Trentowski’s reflection, whose output can be resolutely compared with the output of the
leading representatives of postmodernism, especially Wolfgang Welsch. It turns out that distance in time not
necessarily grows us away from valuable thoughts and still current solutions being an attempt of pulling the
pedagogy out of the orthodox grasp, without banishing the reason and the rationality at the same time.
