Abstract:
An ability to construct various forms of speech makes learning new things connected with all areas of activity easier. The act of speech, so natural for all of us, becomes a problem for a seven year old child who faces new reality. Research shows that it may even deteriorate this ability or lead to some disorders or difficulties. One of these disorders is a persisting situational speech and gesticulation characteristic for pre-school children. I approach both of them as a phenomenon which can disrupt the communication-related message of a speech. My paper includes an attempt to diagnose students as far as the occurrence of situational speech and gesticulation in speech, characteristic for the school reality, is concerned. I also present the direction of further teaching and educational actions that have a positive effect on the speech development of pupils.
